While some of the conflict feels predictable (jealousy, assumptions, misunderstandings), the writing keeps things engaging enough that the reader wants Addie and Ryan to figure it out.
Where Wilder Puck shows both its charm and its limitations is in pacing and drama. The middle portion drags a bit with repeated back-and-forth between the characters, especially when it comes to admitting or clarifying their feelings. Some of Addie’s reactions can feel over-dramatic or inconsistent, which may frustrate readers who prefer their leads more stable. On the plus side, the ending delivers on a satisfying happily-ever-after; the tension resolves in a way that feels earned. Overall, if you enjoy sports romance with lots of heat, friendship-turned-more angst, and a strong sense of chemistry, Wilder Puck will hit the mark—even if there are moments where it leans heavily into trope territory.
