Heath “Buck” Derringer has lived a long life, but he never thought that a transport flight would be the end of it.
When the Osprey his Raider Team was flying in crashed into Kaneohe Bay, he didn’t see his life flashing before his eyes.
The only thought crossing through his mind was that there was no one at home who would mourn him. His life had been focused on his work. Serving his country. That was enough.
He thought it always would be.
Until he nearly died in a plane crash.
And now, he’s shaken.
Mari DeLima stumbled her way into being a kind of grief therapist. Well, her cat is.
She just accompanies her ‘inherited’ cat as it makes the rounds at the rehab center.
Mari can’t help but feel jealous of the people who are putting their lives back together and moving on. She feels like she’d been stuck in a deep hole since the death of her mother and father with no hope of getting out.
Meeting each other changed everything.
When he has to make the decision to stay in the Marines or walk away, what will he decide?
